Power Lifting and Shifting the Human Spirit

Power Lifting and Shifting the Human Spirit

Powerlifting takes enormous strength. Confidence. Endurance. And heart. Powerlifting is an athletic sport that can intimidate and even scare people away from trying. Why? It’s hard work from start to finish. There’s no warm-up period as if you’re on a treadmill, you grab the weight and you must lift it. You must try with all of your might to lift that weight. And it ain’t easy.

Isn’t that a metaphor for life? As the founder of S.A.L.A.D, I am constantly trying to shift the overall consciousness of the world to lead from a place of love and do the work it takes to find true happiness. Think that’s easy? Let me tell you, it is not!

I want to change the world. I want to shift the way we see the world, the way we see each other and the way we see ourselves. This takes constant stamina and fortitude. Think about Atlas — the literal weight of the world on his shoulders. He was condemned to a life of essentially powerlifting the world. I don’t see it as being condemned myself, but I, too, feel the weight of the world on my shoulders. It’s a responsibility I don’t take lightly. I was put on this earth to change the world and to shift the consciousness of humanity.

What’s easy is to give up. To say it can’t be done. To say it’s too much. To say it isn’t worth it. But it CAN be done! It IS worth it! And sure, it’s too much — too much to ignore! We must all band together and channel energy into a well of positivity. From there, we can all grow into the best people we can be. The world as it is now? We’re so far from this ideal, it can be hard for some people to imagine it.

But try to imagine it. Imagine yourself powerlifting. Imagine yourself with all the strength you can muster and lifting the weight up, high into the air. Now instead of the weight, imagine you’re lifting the human spirit. It’s heavy and it’s complicated, but you’re doing it! Slowly, but surely keep going! Lift! Lift! Lift!

And then it’s up there! Maybe you can’t hold it forever, but for a split second, maybe a bit longer, you have contributed to the monumental shift needed for us all to feel better as brothers and sisters on this planet. And because we’re all taking this on together, when you can’t lift anymore, you know that someone will have your back and take over for you.

THAT is what we must strive for. THAT must be the reason we get out of bed in the morning. And THAT is not just my calling in life, but it should be all of ours. By living in the service of others, what goes around will come around in the best of ways, allowing us all to prosper as moral, loving and beautiful citizens of this wonderful world.

Peace, Love, Grace and Namasgar,
