Retreat to Revive

“Retreat to Revive”

Treating yourself to a retreat is perhaps one of the most rewarding gifts of self-care you can give yourself. I’m not talking about a standard vacation. While vacations are wonderful and offer so much in the way of connecting with yourself, a retreat goes deeper.

A retreat is usually a solo effort. Many of the reasons a vacation can be just as exhausting as it is relaxing is because you’re catering to several people and doing what the group as a whole may want to do. A retreat is just about you and your wants, needs and desires. Certainly you can attend a retreat with someone you know like a spouse or a friend, but the end goal should be about the benefits YOU are reaping, not someone else.

The goal is restoration and wellness, but that can mean so many things to different people. Most retreats do have a health and wellness component, but beyond that they can run the gamut! You can attend a retreat that has a high focus on physical activity like yoga, dance or overall fitness. For those seeking peace and solace, a meditation retreat with very little room for speaking and socializing might be just the ticket! And of course, retreat to a place that you will appreciate visually, taking in the beauty of your surroundings.

So think about all of the different interests of your life and what makes your truly happy. Perhaps the retreat you select is made up of attendees who are all the same gender or people who are going through a similar life change as you or who are all the same age. The list is truly endless and there are so many retreats to choose from so be thorough in your research!

I recently went on a spiritual retreat to Maui and it was truly life-changing. It is my hope that I will be able to offer a S.A.L.A.D. retreat in the near future to all of you. The benefits of such a trip are astounding and truly nothing but positive. And the effects will permeate throughout all facets of your life if you make it a point to continuously connect with the feelings and intentions you had during and for your selected retreat.

Trust me when I say a retreat is a worthwhile investment so even if your ideal retreat is on the expensive side, start saving! The health and wellness benefits will far outweigh the monetary value in the long run. And truly an investment in yourself is one of the best you can make. I wish you luck, light and love on your journey to the retreat of your choice. You won’t regret it!

Retreat to revive the light and spirit in you!
