“What’s It All About, Daddy?”

To all of those who walk this earth and preach hatred, intolerance and an unwillingness to respect the opinions and beliefs of others — shame on you!

To all of those who walk this earth and by their silence and apathy, encourage a senseless loss of millions of lives through history, innocent men, women and children, in the name of their God or “superior race”– shame on you!

Shame on you!

“What’s it all about, Daddy?” asks the little Belgian child to her father after seeing the carnage on the television, following the Brussels attacks and bombings.

“Why are people killing other people in the name of their God?” she asks. “I thought that the Golden Rule says God means love and that they should treat others as they would like to be treated. And that you should only wish upon others what you would wish upon yourself? Do these people hate themselves that much, Daddy? Did they get treated badly by their parents

“I thought, says the lil’ girl, “that the golden rule says, God means love, and that they should treat others as they would like others to treat them and their families…and that you should wish upon others what you wish upon yourself?”

“Do these people hate themselves that much, daddy? Did they get treated badly by their parents and that’s why they are doing all these bad things? How far back does this go?”

To this, her daddy responded with this:

“Fill your body, mind, and soul with love,

And find it to be pure and sure.

This life of yours has been blessed.

The sun shines on everyone.

(La soleil brille sur tout le monde)

It doesn’t make choices,

(Il ne fait pas de choix)

When it rains, it rains down on everyone.

It doesn’t make choices,

(Il ne fait pas de choix)

The one spirit lives in everyone.

Peace to all, Peace to everyone!

Love to all, Love to everyone!”

Imagine that!

Peace, Grace, Love, and Namasgar,

-Gar
